About Me

As a Provisionally Licensed Social Worker at Ashe Counseling and Coaching, I bring a captivating blend of warmth, passion, reliability, and enthusiasm to my practice. My clients consistently praise my dependability, insightfulness, relatability, and compassion, which contributes to an open, honest, and safe environment where they can comfortably address the uncomfortable and harness their innate strengths. My professional journey includes serving families within the Department of Children and Family (DCFS), working with clients as young as six years old in child-centered play therapy, and helping men and women navigate a diverse range of trauma, including sexual abuse, domestic violence, mental health, and substance abuse. I have led groups to guide parents in discovering the most effective parenting styles for both themselves and their children. Employing a dynamic psychodynamic approach, I encourage clients to delve into their past experiences and examine their influence on present-day functioning. Coupled with a trauma-focused methodology, I support clients in identifying and managing trauma triggers, and in developing and utilizing vital coping skills to enhance their overall well-being. Hailing from Chicago, I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from Quincy University and completed my Master's in Social Work: Direct Practice at Chicago State University. As a firm believer in self-care and self-love, I cherish traveling the world, reading, shopping, and streaming my favorite shows during my leisure time. Above all, I treasure the moments spent with my loving husband and our two delightful daughters, aged six and eight.

Why did you decide to become a social worker ?

I chose to become a social worker/counselor because I wanted to turn my passion for helping others into a professional skillset that could serve individuals and communities in a meaningful way. The notion of 'helping people help themselves' is incredibly empowering, not just for the clients but also for me as a practitioner. I believe that the therapeutic relationship can be a catalyst for real change, offering a safe space for people to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and to work toward improving their quality of life.

What types of clients are you most excited to work with?

I am passionate about working with a diverse range of individuals, as it enriches both my professional practice and personal growth.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

I wished all clients knew that therapy is a process.

Why did you choose to practice at Ashe Counseling?

This practice has allowed me the opportunity to adapt and tailor my approach with different clients. It continues to enhance my understanding of the human experience, allowing me to refine my clinical skills further.
